Viksit Bharat Ambassadors of Mumbai hosted a Viksit Bharat, Viksit Mumbai meetup at Lodha World One in Lower Parel South Mumbai, drawing an audience of over 200 eminent industrialists, doctors, chartered accountants, and professionals. The event, graced by the esteemed presence of Sh. Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Railways, Communications, and IT, highlighted India's significant strides in railways and telecommunications.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the significant advancements in India's railway infrastructure under Prime Minister Modi's leadership. He mentioned that the country is constructing approximately 4 kilometres of railway tracks daily, significantly expanding the railway network. Vaishnaw pointed out that in the previous fiscal year, India added 5,300 kilometres to its railway network, a feat equivalent to the entire railway network of Switzerland. Over the past decade, India has added 31,000 kilometres of railway track, which matches the total length of Germany's railway network.

Regarding electrification and modernization efforts, Vaishnaw emphasized that under the Modi government, 44,000 kilometres of railway networks have been electrified over the past decade, a stark comparison to the 20,000 kilometres accomplished during the preceding 60 years of Congress governance. He expressed the government's commitment to achieving 100 per cent electrification of the Indian Railways.

Vaishnaw pointed out that previous administrations' neglect and oversight had left the railways in despair. He noted that initiatives such as the conversion from meter gauge to broad gauge networks, which should have been undertaken during the 1950s and 1960s, were addressed during the tenure of the NDA government.

The Minister also provided updates on renovating railway stations and manufacturing modern trains within India. He mentioned ongoing redevelopment efforts at over 300 railway stations nationwide, focusing on enhancing facilities. Vaishnaw highlighted the Shivaji Maharaj railway station in Maharashtra as a prime example of a state-of-the-art model.
Furthermore, he underscored the significance of projects like the Vande Bharat and Bullet trains in advancing India's railway infrastructure.

Vaishnaw emphasized the government's commitment to developing indigenous solutions, such as the Vande Bharat trains, instead of relying on imports from developed economies.

He outlined plans to introduce the Vande Metro, Vande Chair car, and Vande Sleeper trains, which aim to improve travel comfort and efficiency. Additionally, he mentioned the government's vision for India to become a global hub in semiconductor manufacturing and telecom services, focusing on mobile manufacturing.
