Shri Narendra Modi unveils in-house magazine of Gujarat Maritime Board

Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Narendrabhai Modi today unveiled the January edition of Maritime Horizon, an in-house magazine of Gujarat Maritime Board. The Hon’ble Chief Minister articulated vision, thoughts and plans for the port development in the State through an article in the Magazine.

With more than 35% of the country’s traffic currently handled by Gujarat, its role in the development of the country is significant. Gujarat in the last decade had added almost 228 MMTPA to its port capacity, which is the highest so far by any state.

Chief Minister suggested that ports should not be seen on a stand-alone basis, but should be seen in terms of overall logistics infrastructure and therefore, he highlighted the need for development of overall logistics and infrastructure including the hinterland connectivity and the access of port facilities to the land-locked states.

Additional Chief Secratry Ports Shri H. K. Das, Vice Chairman of Gujarat Maritime Board Shri A. K. Rakesh & officials remained present on the occasion.

PM to inaugurate 28th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth on 15th January

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 28th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth (CSPOC) on 15th January 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan, Parliament House Complex, New Delhi. Prime Minister will also address the gathering on the occasion.

The Conference will be chaired by the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Shri Om Birla and will be attended by 61 Speakers and Presiding Officers of 42 Commonwealth countries and 4 semi-autonomous parliaments from different parts of the world.

The Conference will deliberate on a wide range of contemporary parliamentary issues, including the role of Speakers and Presiding Officers in maintaining strong democratic institutions, the use of artificial intelligence in parliamentary functioning, the impact of social media on Members of Parliament, innovative strategies to enhance public understanding of Parliament and citizen participation beyond voting, among others.
