On the morning of Wednesday 13th March 2013 Shri Narendra Modi affirmed that nothing short of the return of the two Italian marines, who are accused of killing Indian fishermen, is acceptable to the nation. He also asked the UPA to answer the nation on the steps they are taking to ensure the return of the marines so that they can face trial in India.

Categorically stating his stand on Twitter, Shri Modi said, On the issue of #ItalianMarines, nothing short of their return to India must be the acceptable outcome. He went on to Tweet, UPA should explain to the nation what actions it plans to take to ensure the return of the #ItalianMarines to India to face trial. Social media has given strong thumbs up to Shri Modi’s stand.

The two Italian marines stand accused of the murder of fishermen in Kerala. They were allowed to go home for the Italian elections but the Italian officials have since them said that they will not be returning to India now.
