Shri Modi pays tributes to Indu Chacha on Gujarat's 53rd Foundation Day

On the morning of 1st May 2013, which is celebrated as the foundation day of Gujarat, Shri Narendra Modi paid tributes to Shri Indulal Yagnik, popularly known as Indu Chacha in Ahmedabad. Shri Modi extended his greetings to the 6 crore people of Gujarat and the Gujarati community spread worldwide on the occasion of the state’s 53rd Foundation Day.

Speaking on the occasion Shri Modi recalled Indu Chacha’s contribution in the formation of Gujarat and his leadership during the Maha Gujarat Movement. He also recalled that during the Maha Gujarat Movement there was Congress rule and during the Movement, youngsters were fired at from the Congress office due to which many youth died. “Despite this atmosphere of fear, under Indu Chacha’s leadership, the foundation of Gujarat became possible through non-violence.”

Shri Modi said that when Gujarat was formed there were questions asked- how will a state where there is no water, a state with a vast Rann move ahead. “But today, if we look back, we see that with the hardwork of each and every citizen of Gujarat, the state has made a mark for itself for the development and progress. Gujarat has gone many commendable things in various spheres,” he stated.

The Chief Minister called for reaffirming the Mantra “Gujarat’s Growth for India’s Growth.” He added, “We have made a determined effort with the motto of ‘Sauno Saath, Sauno Vikas’ (All together, growth for all).”

Minister of State Shri Pradeepsinh Jadeja was present on the occasion.

Earlier in the morning Shri Modi Tweeted, “Greetings on 53rd Gujarat Gaurav Divas. Let us reaffirm our determination to build a strong & glorious Gujarat.” He also shared a message to the people on this historic day.

Prime Minister expresses delight as Sarnath is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today expressed that it is a proud moment for every Indian, sharing his delight that Sarnath in Uttar Pradesh has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

He noted that Sarnath has a close association with Lord Buddha, whose timeless message of wisdom, compassion and harmony inspires the world.

Shri Modi highlighted that this recognition celebrates India’s profound civilisational and spiritual heritage. The Prime Minister observed that it will also inspire more people across the world to come to Sarnath and connect with the ideals of Lord Buddha.
