Chief Minister inaugurates largest private sector power plant in Surat

Chief Minsiter Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated Sugen Mega Power Plant in Kamrej in Surat yesterday on 30th September. This is first largest power based project in the country that will produce clean energy of 1100 MW. Chief Minister dedicated this plant to the people of the nation.

“In 2012 Surat will cross the present total power production”, Chief Minister mentioned on the occasion. The tribal framers by 2010 will get power connection in Gujarat Eastern Tribal belt from Umargam to Ambaji. Gujarat is the first state who has taken initiative of announcing and implementing Biomas energy policy.

On the occasion Shri Murli Deora Union Minsiter for Petroleum and Natural Gas mentioned that top priority of the Government is to enhancing energy security of the country and making petroleum products available to comman man at affordable price.

Union Power Minister Shri Sushil Kumar Shinde who was present on the occasion congratulate Torrent Family and said 1147.5MW gas based project signifies the direction the Indian power sector has to take in the near future to overcome the shortage of electricity that threatens to shackle our economic growth. The current Five Year Plan, we have set a target of 80,000 MW and still two and half years are left. We will achieve the target”

State Energy and Petrochemicals Minister Saurabh Patel said that in the next three years, the state government will give 10 lakh gas connections through piped gas “so that women in the villages will not have to face any problem and will also be able to save money”.

Gujarat Power Minister Shri Bharatsinh Solanki, state ministers Shri Narottam Patel, Shri Saurabh Patel, Shri Mangu Patel and Wolfgang Dehen, CEO of Energy, Siemens, Germany were present at the occasion.

PM to inaugurate 28th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth on 15th January

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 28th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth (CSPOC) on 15th January 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan, Parliament House Complex, New Delhi. Prime Minister will also address the gathering on the occasion.

The Conference will be chaired by the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Shri Om Birla and will be attended by 61 Speakers and Presiding Officers of 42 Commonwealth countries and 4 semi-autonomous parliaments from different parts of the world.

The Conference will deliberate on a wide range of contemporary parliamentary issues, including the role of Speakers and Presiding Officers in maintaining strong democratic institutions, the use of artificial intelligence in parliamentary functioning, the impact of social media on Members of Parliament, innovative strategies to enhance public understanding of Parliament and citizen participation beyond voting, among others.
