UPA govt. mismanaged national security: Modi

Sanand (Guj) (PTI): Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said the Congress-led UPA government has not only mismanaged the internal security but also the external threats by going for the nuclear deal.

"They have mismanaged internal security by being soft on terrorism. Now, with this nuclear deal with the US, they have also played with the security threats from external sources as they have placed our nuclear sovereignty in their hands," Modi said at a function of Swarnim Gujarat Sankalp Jyot Rath here.

"The secret document released in American media has revealed that India cannot conduct another nuclear test," he said .

This government has been knowingly or unknowingly encouraging terrorism by being soft on terror, Modi said reiterating his demand for clearance of GUJCOC.

Modi said he is ready to fight with the Congress-led UPA Government for the tough terror act.

He also requested people of the state to write a postcard to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh demanding early approval of the bill.

"Gujarat police have caught those involved in the blasts. But, their hands are tied as the UPA government has not cleared this bill for the last three years," he said.

"The difficulty is, they are neither giving the permission nor they are rejecting the bill," he said.
