July 8th, it was the second day of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kazakhstan. Shri Modi was given a Ceremonial welcome at the President’s Palace. President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev was also present at the occasion.

PM presented President Nazarbayev with a set of books relating to the religions born in India. The set includes an English translation of Guru Granth Sahib, Bhadrabahu’s Kalpasutra in Prakrit, Ashtasahasrika Prajnaparamita in Sanskrit. A Persian translation of Valmiki’s Ramayana in nastaliq script was also gifted by the PM.

He also complemented President of Kazakhstan holding the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions every three years in Astana since 2003.

High level delegation talks were also held with President Nazarbayev. Shri Modi termed it to be fruitful. Both of them also addressed a Business Roundtable.

During the Joint Press Statement with President Nazarbayev, PM Modi congratulated people of Kazakhstan on occasion of 550th anniversary of the Kazakh Khanate and 20th anniversary of their Constitution. PM Modi also complemented Kazakhstan’s continued support for India’s candidature for a permanent seat in the UNSC and for a UNCCIT.

Concluding his visit and heading for Russia for the 7th BRICS Summit, PM Narendra Modi thanked the people and Government of Kazakhstan for their hearty reception. He was optimistic that India-Kazakhstan ties would further strengthen in times to come.

Prime Minister extends greetings to the people of Sikkim on Statehood Day

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today extended greetings to the people of Sikkim on the occasion of the State’s Statehood Day, marking a historic milestone as Sikkim celebrates its 50th Statehood Day this year. Shri Modi remarked that the contribution of Sikkim to India’s development journey is deeply valued and appreciated. Recalling his recent visit to Sikkim during the 50th Statehood Day celebrations, the Prime Minister said that he was deeply touched by the warmth and affection shown by the people of the State.

Shri Modi posted on X:

“Greetings to my sisters and brothers on their Statehood Day. The contribution of Sikkim to India’s development is deeply valued. Wishing the people of the state good health and prosperity.

This occasion comes at a time when Sikkim is marking 50th Statehood Day celebrations. A few days ago, I had the good fortune of being among the people of Sikkim for the celebrations. The warmth I received in Sikkim will remain a part of my memory. The Central Government will keep supporting Sikkim’s growth trajectory in the times to come.”
