Gems and jewellery sector's aim should not only be ‘Make in India’ but also 'Design in India': PM

Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today inaugurated the Diamond Manufacturing Unit of M/s Hare Krishna Exports Pvt Ltd in Surat. 

 

Recalling Sardar Patel’s rich contributions, the PM said, “If there was someone who had a clear vision about how India should be, it was Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. He integrated India.”

 

 

 

The Prime Minister said Surat has made a mark in the diamond industry but there is now need to look at the entire gems and jewellery sector. He said that as far as the gems and jewellery sector is concerned, our aim should not only be ‘Make in India’ but also 'Design in India'.

Prime Minister condoles the passing of legendary playback singer S. Janaki Amma

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, has expressed deep grief over the passing of distinguished playback singer S. Janaki Amma.

The Prime Minister said that her passing is an irreparable loss to the world of music and culture. He noted that her songs in various languages were popular across generations and gave voice to every emotion with unparalleled grace and versatility.

Shri Modi said that her melodies will continue to enchant listeners in the years to come.

The Prime Minister wrote on X;

“The passing of the distinguished playback singer S. Janaki Amma is an irreparable loss to the world of music and culture. Her songs in various languages were popular across generations. They gave voice to every emotion with unparalleled grace as well as versatility. Her melodies will continue to enchant listeners in the years to come.
