Japan’s Consul General Meets Chief Minister

Mumbai based Japan’s Consul General, Shri Timon Mochida met Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi today in Gandhinagar. During the courtesy-meet, considering the growing development ties between Gujarat and Japan, Chief Minister suggested that Japan Government ought to set-up a special coordination-cell –Gujarat Cell-at Japan’s Embassy, either at New Delhi or at Mumbai.

Chief Minister said that the Japanese Companies are keen build the bond of partnership with Gujarat. Considering Gujarat’s development strides, growing global influence, Japan’s delegation are on and often visiting Gujarat, and say that in every quarter some of the delegation is paying visit to Gujarat. For swift implementations of various projects, like Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor- DMIC, the special-Cell would enlighten them about Gujarat’s potential and the avenues of development, not only that it would be very helpful to them.

The Consul General promised to make necessary representation before the Japanese Government in this regard.

Chief Minister appreciated the Eco-City project in Gujarat, which has been taken up by Japan. As many as 22 towns fall on DMIC route, where Gujarat Government wants to implement Solid Waste & Waste Water Management Projects on Public Private Partnership basis, said CM. Japanese-firms may also join in Eco-Friendly-City Projects at these towns.

Shri Mochida detailed the newer Waste Management Techniques developed by Japan in the recent past.

Chief Minister gave an invitation to the Japanese Prime Minister to lead their delegation at Vibrant Gujarat Global Investor’s Summit- 2011, which is scheduled to be held in January -2011.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi received an audience today with His Majesty, Jigme Singye Wangchuck, The Fourth King of Bhutan, in Thimphu.

Prime Minister conveyed felicitations on the occasion of the 70th birth anniversay of His Majesty, The Fourth King and the best wishes and prayers of the Government and people of India for His Majesty’s continued good health and well-being. Prime Minister thanked His Majesty The Fourth King for his leadership, counsel and guidance in further strengthening India-Bhutan friendship. Both leaders held discussions on bilateral ties and issues of mutual interest. In this context, they underlined the shared spiritual and cultural bonds that bring the people of the two countries closer.

Prime Minister joined His Majesty, the King of Bhutan, His Majesty, the Fourth King of Bhutan, and Prime Minister of Bhutan at the Kalachakra initiation ceremony at Changlimithang Stadium, as part of the ongoing Global Peace Prayer Festival in Thimphu. The prayers were presided over by His Holiness the Je Khenpo, the Chief Abbot of Bhutan.
