"Gujarat need to produce excellent yoga teachers," says Narendra Modi

Gandhinagar, Monday: Trustees of Surendranagar-based Life Mission Trust, led by Mr. I.K. Jadeja, called on Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi here today and thanked him for reposing confidence on the Trust for setting up a self-financed Yoga University in the private sector in Ahmedabad. A related Bill was also passed in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly.

Rajshri Muni Maharaj is the chairman of the Trust busy in yoga practice and training at Jakhad in Limbdi taluka for the last 20 years, with its other centres at Kayavarohan, Malav and Ansho in Gujarat and at different place in India and in 20 countries. The trust also carries out educational, spiritual and social activities, holds yoga competition at national and international level.

The delegation, comprising trustees and yoga trainers from 26 districts of Gujarat, Rajasthan Delhi, Mumbai and Maharashtra, wished Mr. Modi inaugurated the university.

Speaking to the delegation, Mr. Modi stressed on the need to produce excellent yoga teachers and apply yoga to cure mentally challenged children. He wished the university propagated yoga far and wide.

PM to inaugurate 28th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth on 15th January

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 28th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth (CSPOC) on 15th January 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan, Parliament House Complex, New Delhi. Prime Minister will also address the gathering on the occasion.

The Conference will be chaired by the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Shri Om Birla and will be attended by 61 Speakers and Presiding Officers of 42 Commonwealth countries and 4 semi-autonomous parliaments from different parts of the world.

The Conference will deliberate on a wide range of contemporary parliamentary issues, including the role of Speakers and Presiding Officers in maintaining strong democratic institutions, the use of artificial intelligence in parliamentary functioning, the impact of social media on Members of Parliament, innovative strategies to enhance public understanding of Parliament and citizen participation beyond voting, among others.
