PM Narendra Modi has been awarded the prestigious UN Champions of the Earth Award.
President Emmanuel Macron of France and Shri Modi have been awarded in the Policy Leadership category, for their efforts regarding the International Solar Alliance.
The UN has also noted PM Modi’s efforts towards eliminating single-use plastic in India by 2022.
The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, shared a Sanskrit Subhashitam emphasising on sacred Earth as a source of strength to the nation:
“यार्णवेऽधि सलिलमग्र आसीद्यां मायाभिरन्वचरन्मनीषिणः।
यस्या हृदयं परमे व्योमन्त्सत्येनावृतममृतं पृथिव्याः।
सा नो भूमिस्त्विषिं बलं राष्ट्रे दधातूत्तमे॥”
The Subhashitam conveys that, the Earth, which is filled with water within the oceans, and surrounded by water outside, which thoughtful scholars have understood through their wisdom, and whose heart is covered by the eternal truth in the vast sky – may that earth, sustain our energy and strength in a noble nation.
The Prime Minister wrote on X;
