Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed a public meeting in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Speaking at the event, the PM said that a new ray of hope has emerged in the country and an atmosphere of trust has been created in the country. This, he said, was in contrast to the situation that prevailed two years back. “Whenever someone watched TV two years back, there was news of scams, corruption and frauds”, the PM added.

Taking a jibe at the Congress party, Shri Narendra Modi mentioned that they had always played politics in the name of poor but were now unable to accept that a person from the backward sections of society became the PM. Shri Modi held them responsible for not letting the Parliament function properly as a result of which crucial bills concerning the poor were pending in the Rajya Sabha. He further added, “Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar was forgotten by them. When we made his ideals popular and worked for marginalised they got worried.”

To move ahead, PM said that India needed Ekta, Shanti and Sadbhavana that would take the country to newer heights of progress. The PM spoke about several Government schemes that were transforming lives of people at the grassroots. He talked about the special package given for sugarcane farmers through their Jan Dhan accounts. He also highlighted the Union Government’s decision of MSP on pulses. He said that this step gave the farmers the much needed strength in just sixteen months what they did not get in years.

Shri Narendra Modi said that India’s real strength was in the personal sector and to boost that the Government had launched the MUDRA Yojana. He said that the NDA Government had recently unveiled the Start-up India movement to power the dreams of millions of youngsters in the country. The PM stated that with the programme, the Government aimed to reduce ‘job seekers’ and promote ‘job creators’ in the country.
