पंतप्रधान नरेंद्र मोदी यांनी “नमामि ब्रम्हपुत्रा” या उत्सवाला शुभेच्छा दिल्या आहेत. आसाम सरकारने सुरु केलेला हा उत्सव, अतिशय अभिमानास्पद आहे, असे पंतप्रधानांनी म्हटले आहे.
ब्रम्हपुत्रा नदी आसामची आणि ईशान्य भारताची जीवनवाहिनी आहे, तसेच या प्रदेशातील लोकांच्या उदरनिर्वाहाचे साधन आहे.
भारतीय संस्कृती आणि इतिहासात नद्यांचे मध्यवर्ती स्थान आहे. भारताच्या प्रगतीसाठी नद्या स्वच्छ करण्याचा आपण संकल्प करु या, असे पंतप्रधानांनी म्हटले आहे.
