Chief Minister Narendra Modi gave guidance and urged all his cabinet officials to participate fully in Kanya Kelavani Mohatsav. In the meeting Education Minister Mr. Ramamlal Vora, Ministry of Education (for Primary, secondary and rural) Shreemati Aanandi Ben Patel, State Education Minister Jay Singh Chauhan with Modi's secretarial team has participated. Every year in the month of June, before schools re-open Kanya Kelavani Mohatsav is organized with the purpose of increasing awareness amongst the people for the education of girl child.

This year three days Kanya Kelavani Mohatsav will start in rural areas from 18th June and in Urban areas it will start from 25th June. All the cabinet ministers and Gujarat Government officials including forest officers and Police office will participate in this Mohatsav along with Chief Minister Narendra Modi. Almost 330 officials have been allocated rural areas where they will go to the villages to educate people for enrolling their daughters for school education. 18000 villages will be covered in this Mohatsav. The kanya Kelavani Mohatsav is coupled with other initiated programs like Bal bhog Yojan – a scheme to prevent Malnutrition among the children and Nirogi Bal Varsha.

Kanya Kelavani Mohatsav has brought a new revolution in creating awareness for the education of girl child and in last five years this program has really touched the hearts of the people and the 100% enrolment in girl child for primary education is been recorded and students drop out ratio from the school is bare minimum to 2.29%.

The Mahhotsav is aimed at ensuring 100 percent enrollment of girls in primary schools with the minimum dropout rate by 2010, Gujarat's golden jubilee year.
