Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam ensures the rights of my sisters, guarantees the fulfillment of their dreams, pays homage to the strength of women in our nation: PM Modi

Addressing the Nari Shakti Vandan Abhinandan Karyakram in Ahmedabad, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the passage of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, seeking to reserve 33% of seats in Lok Sabha and state Assemblies for women. Speaking to the women in the event, PM Modi said, “Your brother has done one more thing in Delhi to increase the trust with which you had sent me to Delhi. Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, i.e. guarantee of increasing representation of women from Assembly to Lok Sabha.”

He said, “Today, I can confidently state that the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam is a precious gift to my sisters nationwide. This Adhiniyam ensures the rights of my sisters, guarantees the fulfillment of their dreams, pays homage to the strength of women in our nation, and serves as a pledge for a prosperous India.”

Discussing the successful initiatives aimed at women's empowerment, PM Modi remarked, "In Gujarat, we implemented numerous effective campaigns targeting women's empowerment across three crucial levels: the family, society, and the state. Accordingly, we devised a series of plans to enhance the quality of life for every woman within the family."

He further added, "To promote social equality and education, we launched initiatives like Kanya Kelavani. At the state level, we ensured their active participation in politics and administration. Many of you are familiar with the 50 percent reservation for women in local bodies in Gujarat. I initiated the Samras Panchayat experiment to amplify women's representation at all levels."

"For the four key positions in local bodies — Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Standing Committee Chairman, and Party Leader — we mandated that at least one be reserved for women. Additionally, we introduced a similar reservation for a representative from the Dalit or tribal community within the party. Today, these experiences of Gujarat have a big role in the major decisions being taken related to women in every field of the country, from home to Parliament,” he said.

Prime Minister Modi emphasized, "In order to empower the tribal women of Gujarat, we elevated their role within forest management boards, resulting in the active participation of thousands of women in forest development efforts. To address self-employment challenges faced by women, we established the Women Economic Development Corporation in Gujarat. Furthermore, we initiated Mission Mangalam, dedicated to enhancing the economic empowerment of women."

Talking about the award winning ‘Pani Samitis’, PM Modi asserted, “We first started women's participation in ‘Pani Samitis’ and women's leadership from Gujarat itself. This system of Gujarat's ‘Pani Samiti’ also received an international award. I remember that Gujarat was appreciated for this initiative not only at the national level but also at the international level. Gujarat also received two major international awards from the United Nations and the Commonwealth Association.”

Highlighting the efforts made for the advancement of women, Prime Minister Modi reiterated, "In the past 9 years, we've dedicated ourselves to enhancing the overall quality of life for women in our nation, spanning from their early years to old age. Our country grappled with numerous social issues, from female foeticide to female illiteracy. That's why we initiated the 'Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao' campaign. Today, we can proudly declare that the gender ratio in our country has significantly improved."

“Today, be it the country's industry or playground, daughters are reaching new heights everywhere and elevating the country's reputation. Just yesterday our women cricket team hoisted the flag of India by winning the gold medal in the Asian Games,” he said.

Addressing to the large number of women present at the event, PM Modi criticized the opposition, stated, "Your growing influence has led to the passage of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam in Parliament with an unprecedented number of votes. Even those who had postponed it for decades had to support it, out of fear of you. You must have observed how these individuals were hedging their statements and making numerous excuses."

“Soon, with the power of this law, the daughters of the country will reach the Assembly and Parliament in large numbers and will become the voice of the country,” the Prime Minister concluded.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi chaired the 52nd meeting of PRAGATI, the ICT-enabled, multi-modal platform aimed at fostering Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation, by seamlessly integrating efforts of the Central and State Governments, earlier today at Seva Teerth.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister reviewed four critical infrastructure projects across the Road, Power, Industrial Corridor and Metro Rail sectors, covering four States and costing around ₹30,000 crore. These projects, important for economic growth, regional connectivity, industrial development and public welfare, were reviewed with focus on timelines, inter-agency coordination, issue resolution and timely completion.

Prime Minister underlined that delays in infrastructure projects not only lead to cost escalation, but also deprive people and industries of timely benefits. He asked the concerned Ministries and State Governments to resolve pending issues in a mission-mode manner and ensure close monitoring at the highest level.

Prime Minister emphasised the use of PM GatiShakti National Master Plan for efficient planning and timely implementation of infrastructure projects. He also underlined the need for regular and timely updation of project details, utilities, infrastructure layers, clearances and other field-level information on the portal. He further emphasised that the platform must reflect the latest ground situation so that bottlenecks can be identified in advance, inter-agency coordination can be improved and decisions can be taken on the basis of reliable, real-time data.

Prime Minister reviewed TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and emphasised the need to leverage latest digital technologies including Artificial Intelligence. He suggested a team of NCC cadets and MY Bharat volunteers, for awareness, patient follow-up and community mobilisation.

Prime Minister also reviewed grievances related to Cyber Crime and Digital Arrest. He expressed concern over the rising misuse of digital platforms to defraud citizens and stressed that such matters require coordinated, sensitive and time-bound handling by all concerned agencies. He noted that citizens should not be made to run from one department or agency to another. He also emphasized the need for clear ownership, faster response, better coordination among law enforcement agencies, banks and digital platforms, and stronger public awareness campaigns.

Prime Minister observed that in cases involving cyber fraud, timely action is crucial to prevent financial loss and restore public confidence. He asked all stakeholders to work in close coordination to strengthen prevention, reporting, investigation and grievance redressal mechanisms. He also emphasised that States should work towards enabling e-Zero FIR mechanisms for faster registration and response in cyber fraud cases.
