On the evening of Saturday 15th March 2014 the BJP declared the NDA’s PM candidate Shri Narendra Modi as the Party’s nominee from the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat.

After his name was announced, Shri Modi thanked the Party for giving him the opportunity to contest the elections and said that with the blessings of Ganga Mata and Kashi Vishwanath, Mission 272+ would become a reality. He Tweeted

Prime Minister pays tribute to Dr. Bhupen Hazarika on his 100th birth anniversary

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, paid tribute to legendary Dr. Bhupen Hazarika on his 100th birth anniversary.

The Prime Minister said that Dr. Bhupen Hazarika’s voice carried the soul of Assam and the spirit of the Northeast to the entire nation. He noted that through his music, Dr. Hazarika beautifully gave expression to the thoughts and spirit of countless people and brought people closer.

Shri Modi warmly recalled attending the beginning of Dr. Hazarika’s birth centenary celebrations in Guwahati last year.

The Prime Minister said that Bhupen Da’s life and work will continue to inspire generations.

The Prime Minister wrote on X;

“On his 100th birth anniversary, remembering the legendary Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Ji.
