Delhi University Hosts 'Run for Viksit Bharat'

Delhi University's North Campus hosted the 'Run for Viksit Bharat' on 8th May. This run, organized in collaboration with the Vikas Bharat Ambassador Club, witnessed a remarkable turnout of over 8,000 students from more than 80 colleges across Delhi University representing various undergraduate and postgraduate disciplines.

A sea of young participants gathered at 6:00 a.m., adorned in T-shirts bearing the 'Viksit Bharat Ambassadors' inscription. Together, they participated in a 2km run to promote the vision of a developed nation by 2047.

Esteemed chief guests, actor Rajkummar Rao and badminton ace Saina Nehwal graced the event with their presence. Both addressed the gathered youth, emphasizing the pivotal role of young people in shaping a 'Viksit Bharat', highlighting India's ascent on the global stage, and notably stressing the importance of voting for national progress.

Saina Nehwal's call for increased voter engagement resonated throughout the event. She emphasized the power of the ballot and encouraged every eligible citizen to participate in the democratic process.

Rajkummar Rao, a proud Delhi University alumnus and a notable advocate for the Election Commission, echoed these sentiments, urging attendees to exercise their voting rights diligently during the ongoing Lok Sabha Elections.

Nehwal also emphasized the importance of incorporating running into daily routines for fitness. She highlighted the significance of the Viksit Bharat Run and expressed a desire for India to excel and become one of the world’s leading nations by 2047 or earlier. She also commended the achievements of Indian women across various fields.

Citing badminton, she said, “Earlier, China and Korea used to dominate the game, but today, Indian players have given them a run for their money.”

The badminton player reiterated the importance of voting, urging every eligible individual to participate in the country’s advancement. “Voting is crucial, so please exercise your right to vote and contribute to taking our nation to greater heights.”

Actor Rajkummar Rao also attended the event and shared his sentiments regarding the ‘Viksit Bharat Run’.

“It feels great to return to my alma mater. We are all here for Viksit Bharat 2047. We are committed to this initiative to create more opportunities for everyone and build a better India for the younger generation.”

Rajkummar Rao termed the Viksit Bharat event a path-breaking initiative and said that the combined effort of countrymen will help achieve this target easily.

The Bollywood actor, also serving as the brand ambassador of the Election Commission (EC), emphasized the importance of voting, stating that it is everyone’s responsibility to do so.

“As the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 are underway, I urge everyone to go out and cast their votes as it is crucial for our democracy and our nation,” added the actor.

The event, graced by DU Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh as the chief guest, saw participation from students across various DU colleges.

Over the past few months, the Viksit Bharat Ambassador event has made a conscious effort to connect and inspire citizens from every sphere of life, including students, the working class, and those in spirituality, corresponding with multifarious growth and development across various sectors.

The Officer Trainees of the 2024 Batch of Indian Foreign Service (IFS) called on Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi at his residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg earlier today. There are 33 IFS Officer Trainees in the 2024 batch from different States and UTs.

Prime Minister discussed the current multipolar world and India’s unique role as a Vishwabandhu, ensuring friendship with everyone. He cited instances of how India has emerged as a first responder for countries in need. He also underlined the capacity building efforts and other endeavours undertaken by India to lend a helping hand to the Global South. Prime Minister discussed the evolving sphere of foreign policy and it’s significance in the global fora. He spoke about the key role that the diplomats are playing in the evolution of the country as a Vishwabandhu on the global stage. He underscored the significance of the Officer Trainees in their role as future diplomats as the country moves ahead towards the aim of becoming developed by 2047.

Prime Minister engaged in a wide-ranging interaction with the Officer Trainees and asked them about their experience so far, after joining the government service. The officer trainees shared their experiences from their training and research tasks undertaken by them, which included topics such as Maritime diplomacy, AI & Semiconductor, Ayurveda, Cultural connect, Food and Soft Power, among others.

Prime Minister said that we must create curiosity amongst youngsters in various countries about India with Know Your Bharat quizzes and debates. He also said that questions of these quizzes should be regularly updated and include contemporary topics from India such as Mahakumbh, Celebration of completion of 1000 years of Gangaikonda Cholapuram Temple and so on.

Prime Minister emphasised on the important role of communication in a technology driven world. He urged the officer trainees to work on exploring all the websites of the Missions and try to find out what can be done to improve these websites for effective communication with the Indian diaspora.

Discussing the opening up of the space sector for private players, PM emphasized on exploring opportunities in other countries for expanding the scope of Indian startups coming up in this sector. PM said that India has the potential to fill this space in the space sector.
