Honorable PM it is heartening to hear your commitment in protecting national interest in general and farmers welfare in particular in view of recent conflict arising due to unilateral and arbitrary escalation of trade tariff by US. Now it is time our farmers wake up from slumber and increase crop production on par with Asian and European peers. There is enough potential to step up farm sector income meaningfully to GDP as we have setup several agricultural universities and research stations todevelop seed varieties in different crops to bolster per acre yielding. There are gaps reaching fruits from lab to land and lack of awareness among farmers and extension services resulting poor yields necessitating heavy import of edible oils and pulses (more than 70% of our consumption) and dwindling farm sector share in GDP. We suggest PM to explore possibilities in his address to nation to bring back old glory to farm sector and doubling farmers incomes.
