Addressing a public meeting in Nagaland today, PM Narendra Modi said that guided by the mantra of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas', the Government was taking every section of society together and working for the progress of the nation.

Appreciating the contributions made by the people of Nagaland, the PM remarked, “Be it bureaucracy, music, art, sports, textiles, the people of Nagaland have contributed greatly to our nation. We are all inspired by the bravery of the people of Nagaland.”

“The Constitution of India respects our diversity and it also calls for living in harmony with all sections of society. The culture of Nagaland is our pride and we will do everything possible to preserve and further it”, he added.

PM Modi said that Nagaland needed a stable government as over the last few years there had been frequent government changes, which did not augur well for the state's growth. “A strong and stable government is in the interest of Nagaland”, he remarked. The PM added that every resource that was devoted for Nagaland's development would be spent for the welfare of the people and there would be no tolerance towards corruption.

He said that the NDA Government was giving special priority to the Northeast and it was making efforts to further prosperity in the region. “Our Government is committed to ensure all-round development of North Eastern states”, he said shedding light on various measures being undertaken to enhance connectivity in Nagaland. He said, “Connectivity in Nagaland is a priority for us. We have ensured development of National Highways in the state and in the coming times we will invest more here to further strengthen it. We are also focusing on enhancing rail and air connectivity here.”

He also highlighted the NDA Government’s initiatives like the Saubhagya Yojana and Housing for All by 2022 aimed at transforming lives of people in Nagaland as well as length and breadth of the country.

The PM noted that entire Northeast had immense possibilities and scope for organic farming. In this context he said, “Today, organic farming has a big market globally and entire Northeast has immense potential for it. We are encouraging farmers to shift towards organic farming. This will add to their incomes”.

The Prime Minister spoke about welfare of bamboo growers and said, “Earlier, bamboo used to be categorized as a tree. We changed it to grass. This is immensely benefiting the bamboo growers.” He also talked about the aspirations of youth in the Northeast and said, “Youth of Nagaland are extremely talented. We want them to shine. We are strengthening sports and IT sector here. Through Mudra Yojana, Digital India, Start-ups and Stand-up India, we are giving wings to their aspirations.”

Prime Minister Welcomes Release of Commemorative Stamp Honouring Emperor Perumbidugu Mutharaiyar II

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi expressed delight at the release of a commemorative postal stamp in honour of Emperor Perumbidugu Mutharaiyar II (Suvaran Maran) by the Vice President of India, Thiru C.P. Radhakrishnan today.

Shri Modi noted that Emperor Perumbidugu Mutharaiyar II was a formidable administrator endowed with remarkable vision, foresight and strategic brilliance. He highlighted the Emperor’s unwavering commitment to justice and his distinguished role as a great patron of Tamil culture.

The Prime Minister called upon the nation—especially the youth—to learn more about the extraordinary life and legacy of the revered Emperor, whose contributions continue to inspire generations.
