At the Times Now Summit, while highlighting the growth of Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, PM Modi said they are becoming new centres of economic activity, backed by rise in digital transactions and increasing number of startup registrations.

PM Modi said that the Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities had the maximum population of poor and the middle class and hence, for the first time, the government was focusing on economic growth of smaller cities and towns as well as working while keeping in mind the aspirations of people living in those cities. PM Modi highlighted that government’s move of zero tax for those having income up to Rs. 5 lakhs per annum benefitted most of people residing in such towns and also mentioned how through better connectivity by expressways and new air routes, the Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities were being rapidly connected.

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today spoke with Crown Prince and PM of Saudi Arabia, HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman and discussed the ongoing conflict in West Asia. Shri Modi reiterated India’s condemnation of attacks on regional energy infrastructure, and the need to ensure freedom of navigation and keeping shipping lines open and secure. “Thanked him for his continued support for the welfare of the Indian community in Saudi Arabia”, Shri Modi stated.
