Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a massive and enthusiastic gathering in Thiruvalla, energising supporters and expressing confidence that Keralam is on the cusp of a historic political transformation. Highlighting the unprecedented turnout, the Prime Minister said, “The massive presence of people here in Thiruvalla, your trust in the NDA, and the affection and confidence shown by mothers and sisters reflect the mood across Keralam. The state is heading towards a major transformation.”
He added, “Voting will take place on April 9, and on May 4, the end of decades of misgovernance will be announced. The countdown for the exit of the LDF government has begun and for the first time, Keralam is set to witness a BJP-NDA government.”
Expressing gratitude to the people of Thiruvalla, PM Modi said that the town is emerging as a centre for the beginning of a new era of development in Keralam. He emphasised that the trust of the people is the greatest strength of the NDA.
The Prime Minister highlighted Keralam’s vast potential, noting that the state has been blessed with abundant natural resources and opportunities in sectors such as the blue economy, tourism and industry. However, he pointed out that despite these strengths, Keralam has lagged behind due to years of neglect by successive LDF and UDF governments.
Criticising the state’s infrastructure gaps, he remarked that poor connectivity, lack of major bridges and challenges in institutions like medical colleges have adversely impacted the quality of life for citizens.
Underscoring the Centre’s commitment, PM Modi stated that despite never having been in power in the state, the NDA government has left no stone unturned in supporting Keralam’s development. He said that the Centre has provided significantly higher financial assistance compared to previous governments.
He also highlighted key welfare initiatives, including housing under PM Awas Yojana, tap water connections under Jal Jeevan Mission and financial support to farmers through PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi. He noted that thousands of crores have been transferred directly to farmers, including rubber growers, benefiting the rural economy.
On infrastructure development, the Prime Minister spoke about the rapid expansion of national highways, improvements in railway infrastructure and the introduction of modern trains like Vande Bharat. He also emphasised the importance of the Sabarimala railway project, stating that it has the potential to boost connectivity, ease pilgrim travel, generate employment and accelerate local economic growth. He added that delays by the state government have held back such transformative projects.
Focusing on women-led development, PM Modi said, “The NDA government has placed women’s empowerment at the centre of its policies. From financial inclusion through Jan Dhan accounts to entrepreneurship through Mudra loans and support to self-help groups, our initiatives have aimed to transform the lives of women across the country.”
Addressing the huge gathering, PM Modi stated, “Our government has ensured 33% reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies. From 16-18 April, the Parliament will reconvene to deliberate on the Nari Shakti Vandan Act and take it forward. Our goal is to ensure 33% women’s representation in Parliament from 2029 onwards.”
He added, “There are rumours around rationalisation based on population. We want to assure the nation that no seats will be reduced. Seats will increase and this will benefit states across the country, including South India. A meeting has also been called with Congress and the INDI Alliance on this matter. I urge all political parties to support this bill in unison. This is about empowering women and strengthening our democracy.”
Addressing the issue of youth migration, the Prime Minister noted that lack of adequate opportunities has forced many young people from Keralam to seek employment elsewhere, including abroad. He stressed that corruption and divisive politics have hindered industrial growth and job creation in the state.
Referring to Indians working overseas, particularly in West Asia, PM Modi assured their families of the government’s continuous support. He said, “Even if your loved ones are far away, they are not alone. The Government of India stands firmly with every Indian, ensuring their safety and well-being, even in challenging global situations.”
Lashing out at the opposition, PM Modi reiterated, “The LDF and UDF people have become pro at lying. They said Kerala Files is a lie, they said Kashmir Files is a lie, they said Dhurandhar is a lie. These days, they are spreading lies about the FCRA and UCC. Goa has had UCC for decades, but they are spreading lies around it. They also did the same around the CAA. They are in the business of spreading lies.”
Criticising both LDF and UDF, the PM accused them of misleading the public and engaging in opportunistic politics. He said that both alliances have failed to prioritise Keralam’s development and are now focused only on attacking the BJP.
Concluding his address, PM Modi called upon the people of Keralam to vote for progress, stability and a better quality of life. He urged them to support the BJP-NDA to usher in a new era of development and ensure that Keralam reaches its full potential.
