On the morning of Tuesday 27th August 2013 Shri Narendra Modi expressed concern on the health of UPA Chairperson Smt. Sonia Gandhi. He also prayed for her good health in future. He also added that considering her ill health, Smt. Sonia Gandhi should have been taken to hospital in a well-equipped ambulance.

Shri Modi Tweeted, “Glad to know that Sonia ji's health is fine. Wishing her the best of health for the future.”

He went on to Tweet, “Concerned that basic medical emergency procedures were not used. Would have been better if wheelchair or stretcher were used in Parliament” and “Considering her health, Sonia ji should have been taken to hospital in a well-equipped ambulance. Still, doctors are best judges.”

Smt. Sonia Gandhi was taken to AIIMS when she felt unwell during the Lok Sabha proceedings to discuss the Food Security Bill on the evening of Monday 26th August 2013.

PM shares a glimpse of the health sector's transformation and reaffirms the commitment to build a healthy India

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today stated that over the last 12 years, India has worked to make quality healthcare more affordable and accessible. He noted that we feel proud when we are known as the nation with the world’s largest healthcare programme, Ayushman Bharat, which provides top-quality healthcare to the most vulnerable.

Shri Modi pointed out that other efforts like PM Bharatiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana have made medicines affordable. The Prime Minister highlighted that the prices of stents and knee implants have become affordable and this has helped many people.

PM Modi observed that, at the same time, medical education has become more accessible to people due to more institutions and seats being available. He emphasized that we will keep building on this ground covered so far in order to build a healthy India, sharing a glimpse of how the health sector has been transformed.

In a series of posts on X, the Prime Minister shared:
