PM Modi discusses India-China ties and global issues with the Chinese Premier

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi meets Premier of the People's Republic of China,Li Keqiang in Malaysia.

Both sides reviewed the global scenario with regard to the economic slowdown, climate change and international terrorism. The Chinese Premier observed that India had maintained its growth momentum despite the slowdown. Both sides reviewed the preparations for the CoP-21 conference in Paris. Shri Narendra Modi briefed the Chinese Premier on the solar alliance initiative, and invited China to join it. Both sides agreed that terrorism is the biggest challenge, and the international community must come together to counter it.

Bilaterally, both sides discussed trade and investment, with the Prime Minister once again reiterating the concern over India’s large trade deficit with China. Cooperation in the area of skill development was discussed.

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, said that the courage and valour of the Indian Armed Forces in protecting the honour and dignity of the nation make every citizen proud. He noted that their spirit of sacrificing everything for Mother India is a source of inspiration for all.

The Prime Minister shared a Sanskrit verse-

“स्वधर्ममपि चावेक्ष्य न विकम्पितुमर्हसि |
धर्म्याद्धि युद्धाच्छ्रेयोऽन्यत्क्षत्रियस्य न विद्यते ||”

The verse conveys that When one becomes aware of one’s duty, there should be no hesitation or fear of any kind in the mind, because the struggle undertaken to protect religion and honour on the altar of justice is the most excellent and most glorious path to self-welfare for a warrior.
