Next year is the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, festivities will be held in every state and across the world. We are making efforts to ensure there is no obstacle in reaching pilgrimage centre related to him.”

Appreciating the contributions made by the central government the PM remarked, “I am very pleased that the NDA government in centre is working tirelessly towards developing Gurdaspur, along with the entire Punjab. We at BJP are working alongside with Akali Dal, under the guidance of respected Sardar Prakash Singh Badal and putting in paralleled efforts for creating progress.”

Lashing out at Congress party, Shri Modi said, “People of Punjab and the entire nation need to be wary of people whose history have always been about tampering with national security, who spread lies to weaken the army, who are bound to serve only one family, who protest saying 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' and 'Vande Mataram' These are the people whose hands are tainted with blood of thousands of innocent Sikhs, and are yet prizing such killers with the position of Chief Minister.”

Talking about 1984 Sikh riot verdict, PM Modi said, “At the behest of a family, the accused were called 'Sajjan' and the files were suppressed, the NDA government took them out, constituted the SIT and the results were in front of everyone.” Also, the Prime Minster said that Like Congress has cheated the nation with slogan for ‘Garibi Hatao’ for decades, it has now cheated the country in the name of farmers’ loan waivers.

Addressing the huge gathering at Gurdaspur on Kartarpur corridor, PM Modi further said, "70 years ago during partition, we were separated from the holy land, it was only a matter of few kilometers. But the government that time couldn’t keep the holy place in India. For many years, devotees have been forced to watch the land of their guru through binoculars."

“Our government is making sincere efforts to double the income of farmers till 2022. Empowering farmers is the mission of the NDA government,” said PM Modi. The Prime Minister spoke about the several schemes of the centre like – Skill India, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Mudra Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, Soil Health Card etc. Also, he highlighted how the central government has worked for the welfare of farmers in Punjab and brought schemes to uplift the middle class.
