The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, has greeted the people on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami. 

"जन्माष्टमी पर सभी देशवासियों को शुभकामनाएं। जय श्री कृष्ण !" 

"Greetings on Janmashtami! May Lord Krishna bless our lives with peace, prosperity and happiness," the Prime Minister said.

He wrote in a post on X:

Our talented athletes have brought immense pride to our nation by winning an extraordinary 55 medals, making it India's best ever performance at the games.
