Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has been elected as the new President of the Gujarat Cricket Association(GCA), the supreme body of cricket in the state.

Modi's name was proposed in the Annual General Meeting attended by 32 members at Sardar Patel stadium-Motera in Ahmedabad.

Minister of state for Home, Law and Justice, Amit Shah was elected for the Vice-President post and Rajesh Patel for the Secretary post during AGM.

BJP has successfully snatched away GCA from Congress leader Narhari Amin's long control after a long court battle. Amin, ex-deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat had to resign early this year from the post of the President after defeat in court and also in election in which his panel lost badly.
