Speaking on the 
Patotsavcelebration of Goddess Siddheshwari in Rangpur of Mansa taluka in GandhinagardistrictChiefMinister Narendra Modisaid the people shouldpress theCentralgovernment for enacting alaw for theprotection of cow-progeny and particularly for banning ferrying of cow-beef in railways. Mr. Modi was speaking to a largenumber of people who gathered for the celebration.

On the occasion,ChiefMinisteroffered prayerstoGoddess Siddheshwari.

Appreciating the socialawareness campaignheld as a partof 
patotsavcelebration hesaid the religion andculture are thevital forces of our society. Hepointed out thatGujarat is the onlystate which has enacted alaw for theprotection of cow-progeny.

At one side theCentralgovernmentis pulling off thereservationrights ofbackward classes while on the other side theGujaratgovernment’s efforts for empowering poor are yielding results, he said.

ChiefMinisteralso urged the religious leaderstobeginbattleagainst malnutrition.

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has appreciated efforts of  India's fencing player C A Bhavani Devi who registered India's first win in an Olympic fencing match before bowing out in the next round. 

Reacting to an emotional tweet by the Olympian, the Prime Minister tweeted:
