On the afternoon of Wednesday 31st October 2012 Shri Narendra Modi addressed a convention of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) in Gandhinagar. The occasion was the start of the Vidhan Sabha Vijay Prayan Abhiyan. Under this drive, 2000 full time volunteers of BJYM will visit 30,000 booths and meet the people. The drive will end on 4th November with Youth Conventions at 900 district Panchayat seats.

Shri Modi said that for the Congress election campaigns rely on money, lies, allegations but for the BJP the workers are the strength. Shri Modi urged Yuva Morcha workers to go out and win the hearts of the people. He declared that the BJP is fighting the elections on development and believes in positive politics.

The Chief Minister affirmed that the BJP wins elections on the strength of its organisation and that taking short cuts is not acceptable to the BJP. He stated that we may not be in the newspapers but we are in the hearts of the people! He added that the BJP is lucky that it has been blessed with so many youngsters.

Shri Modi said that the when the young workers will go into the villages people would naturally ask why they are not celebrating Diwali to which they should say that Diwali will be celebrated on 20th December and it will be celebrated on a grand scale! It will be a Diwali that was celebrated never before in Gujarat, he added.

He spoke about the affection of the people received in the past so many years and asked the youngsters to win the hearts of the people. He said that they must not say “we did this” or “we did that” because it is the duty of the Government to do so and that it is not a favour that they are doing. Instead he asked them to seek blessings of people to continue the work and learning of the last 10 years. He recalled Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya’s Mantra of Always Keep Moving and urged BJYM workers to embrace the same Mantra.

Shri Modi shared wonderful stories from his rich experience of visiting villages, interacting with families and the affection he received from the people when he was working for the organisation. The Chief Minister said that for 12 years he has been continuously targeted but he has always remained a worshipper of democracy and borne them, for which he is proud. In contrast, he stated that the Congress couldn’t tolerate anything and are yet to become worshipers of democracy. He gave the example of Salman Khurshid’s Press Conference and Mr. Virbhadra Singh’s threat to media people when they were questioned on the serious allegations against them.

Shri Modi said that the 6 crore people of Gujarat are his family and that he has faith in the people. “Janta Sab Kuch Janti Hai” Shri Modi affirmed.
