On Wednesday 5th December 2012 Shri Narendra Modi offered prayers at the Shri Ranchhodrai Rai Temple at Dakor. After that Shri Modi addressed a massive public meeting in Dakor (Kheda district) and Kalol (Panchmahal district). The Chief Minister spoke of the new heights of development scaled by Gujarat and pointed out that both industry and agriculture are growing together in the state.

The Chief Minister spoke about the Krishi Mahotsav initiatives and shared that Gujarat is the first state where soil health cards have been given to farmers.

Shri Modi accused the Congress of misleading the farmers and spoke at length about the failure of the UPA to bring down fertilizer prices. For example, he shared that the prices of urea fertilizers, NPK fertilizers and DAP fertilizers have increases over the last many years and due lack of any efforts by the UPA Government, the farmer is at the mercy of the black market for fertilizers. He also accused the UPA for failing to take any step to increase fertilizer production.

Posing a direct challenge to the Prime Minister, Shri Modi said, “You have India, we have Gujarat- let us compete on development!” He added that over the last decade agriculture production, cotton production have witnessed record growth in Gujarat and farmers are cultivating crops in 3 seasons whereas it was always 1 season cultivation in the yesteryears. He asked why on the other hand, the national agriculture growth rate has not gone beyond 2-3%!

He recalled the days of the Congress rule when disturbances and curfews were common and shared that be it Rath Yatra or even cricket matches there would be some disturbance or the other. On the other hand, for the last decade there is no instance of curfew and there is a life of peace and happiness in Gujarat.

Shri Modi affirmed that except for abusing and spreading lies about Gujarat, the Congress is not thinking of anything. Giving an example of the Congress attempts to defame Gujarat, Shri Modi pointed out how the Congress uses photos of children from Sri Lanka to spread lies about Gujarat. “You are insulting the young and innocent children of Gujarat!” he stated. Similarly, photographs from Rajasthan and Tripura were taken. He commented, “the Congress does not stop at stealing money, it steals photos also.”

In his speech, Shri Modi declared that if the Congress wants to serve the people of Gujarat, they must first do something good for the people from Delhi! On the constant negative campaigns of the Congress he said, “the more dirt you throw, the more the Lotus will shine!” adding that there is no abuse from the dictionary left which the Congress has not used on him.

Shri Modi categorically said that the Congress would be wiped out in Gujarat because they will be punished for cheating the people. He talked about the snatching away of LPG cylinders and the burden it has placed on the common person. Terming the Congress as being anti-woman, Shri Modi recalled the obstructionist attitude of the Congress on the Gujarat Government’s initiative to provide piped gas to people. “This anti-woman Congress got a Fatwa from Delhi that the issue of piped gas is under the Government of India and the Government of Gujarat cannot do anything about it. Should we or should we not punish such a Congress?” he questioned and added, “By doing this, Delhi thought Modi will be scared but we have never bent and will never bend. We have gone to the Supreme Court and will win there!”

He urged people to vote in large numbers and make the BJP victorious. There were massive audiences gathered at all venues to listen to Shri Modi and extend solidarity to the BJP.

Prime Minister reaffirms commitment to wildlife conservation on World Wildlife Day; shares Sanskrit Subhashitam
March 03, 2026

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi said that World Wildlife Day is about celebrating the incredible faunal diversity that enriches our planet and sustains our ecosystems. He said it is a day to acknowledge everyone working towards wildlife protection and reaffirm our commitment to conservation, sustainable practices and protecting habitats so that wildlife continues to thrive.

The Prime Minister noted that India cherishes being home to some of the world’s most extraordinary wildlife. He highlighted that India is home to over 70% of the world’s tiger population, has the largest population of the one-horned rhino and the maximum number of Asiatic elephants. He further stated that India is the only place in the world where the majestic Asiatic lion thrives.

The Prime Minister underlined that the Government has undertaken numerous efforts for wildlife protection. These include the setting up of the International Big Cat Alliance as an exceptional forum to share best practices with fellow nations. Other efforts include initiatives aimed at protecting the Great Indian Bustard, Gharial and Sloth Bear, as well as the translocation of cheetahs.

Emphasising India’s cultural ethos, the Prime Minister said that our scriptures pray for the welfare of all living beings and inspire sensitivity towards wildlife along with conservation. He shared a Sanskrit Subhashitam on this occasion which says-

“निर्वनो वध्यते व्याघ्रो निर्व्याघ्रं छिद्यते वनम्। तस्माद् व्याघ्रो वनं रक्षेद् वनं व्याघ्रं च पालयेत्॥”

The Subhashitam conveys that without forests, tigers perish; and without tigers, forests are destroyed. Therefore, the tiger protects the forest and the forest protects the tiger, underscoring the deep interdependence of nature.

In a series of X posts, Shri Modi said;

“World Wildlife Day is about celebrating the incredible faunal diversity that enriches our planet and sustains our ecosystems. It is a day to acknowledge everyone working towards wildlife protection. We reaffirm our commitment to conservation, sustainable practices and protecting habitats so that our wildlife continues to thrive.”

“We in India cherish the fact that we are home to some of the world’s most extraordinary wildlife. We are home to over 70% of the world’s tiger population. We have the largest population of the one-horned rhino, the maximum Asiatic elephants. India is the only place in the world where the majestic Asiatic lion thrives.”

“The NDA Government has undertaken numerous efforts for wildlife protection. This includes the setting up of the International Big Cat Alliance, an exceptional forum to share best practices with fellow nations. Other efforts include those aimed at protecting the Great Indian Bustard, Gharial, Sloth Bear and translocation of cheetahs.”

“आज World Wildlife Day है। हमारे शास्त्रों में सभी जीवों के कल्याण की कामना की गई है। उनसे हमें वन्यजीवों के संरक्षण के साथ-साथ उनके प्रति संवेदनशील होने की प्रेरणा भी मिलती है। उसका एक उदाहरण यह है… निर्वनो वध्यते व्याघ्रो निर्व्याघ्रं छिद्यते वनम्। तस्माद् व्याघ्रो वनं रक्षेद् वनं व्याघ्रं च पालयेत्॥”
