Gandhinagar-Ahmedabad will be developed as world-class twin city: Hon'ble CM

Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi has expressed his resolve to transform the state capital Gandhinagar into a world-class twin city and a solar city.

He said that Gandhinagar-Ahmedabad will be developed as twin city and will be given a recognition that is parallel to New York – Newjersy. He also said that recharging of the river Sabarmati will be extended to Gandhinagar.

Various buildings were thrown open in Gandhinagar by the Chief Minister today on the birth anniversary of Ravishankar Maharaj, which includes collectorate and revenue offices, newly-built geoinformatic research center at BISAG complex and a state-of-the-art building of Gujarat State Disaster Management Emergency Centre. Chief Minister also performed the Khat-Murhat of the project for renovating the existing water supply pipelines in Gandhinagar as well the internal walkways construction project.

Chief Minister said that Gandhinagar will soon get a global recognition due the various international activities that will take place at Mahatma Mandir.

While expressing his resolve to make Gandhinagar a solar-city or Suryanagari, he said that any ordinary family in Gandhinagar will be able to extract sun energy and produce electricity on his terrace and will be able to sell it to the Government.

He said that BISAG has earned a name for it by making a maximum use of satellite technology in the works of development and people’s welfare. His government has turned the mishap of earthquake into an opportunity by educating and training the people against it and by equipping with most modern instruments to deal with such disasters and emergencies.

Revenue Minister Smt.Anandiben Patel while giving details of various building thrown open said that the newly built collector office is spreading in about 10,702-sq.mt. of area and cost Rs.16.64-cr, the building of geoinformatic center is spreading in about 11,441.40-sq.mt. of area and constructed at the cost of Rs.12.62-cr while the building of emergency operation center has been constructed with the cost of Rs.8.67-cr.

She said the existing water supply system in the Gandhinagar with be changed with new. Studies have been conducted for the same by the experts and Gandhinagar now will be supplied water in four different zones. Construction of new pipelines and water tanks will be completed by May 2012, she said.

Minister of State for Roads and Building Shri Jaydrathsinh Parmar, Gandhinagar MLA Shri Shambhuji Thakor, Mansa MLA Shri Mangalbhai Patel, Dahegam MLA Shri Kalyansinh Chauhan, GUDA Chairman Shri Ashok Bhavsar, officials of Khadi-gramodhyog and people in large numbers were present on the occasion.

PM Modi interacted with BJP karyakartas from across West Bengal under the ‘Mera Booth, Sabse Mazboot’ initiative, extending his best wishes for the Bengali New Year to all citizens of the state.


During the interaction, the PM reflected on his recent visits across various parts of West Bengal, highlighting the remarkable enthusiasm, energy and growing support for the BJP among the people. He credited this momentum to the tireless efforts and dedication of booth-level karyakartas.

The PM appreciated the positive response to the BJP’s Sankalp Patra (manifesto), stating that citizens across the state have described it as practical, implementable, and focused on holistic development and welfare.

During the interaction, several karyakartas shared their on-the-ground experiences, highlighting key concerns among the people, including safety, employment, corruption, political violence, and governance challenges. Women karyakartas spoke about concerns over security and dignity, while youth-related issues such as migration due to lack of opportunities were also raised.

PM Modi acknowledged these concerns and emphasised the need for continuous engagement with citizens at the grassroots level. He urged karyakartas to strengthen booth-level organisation through regular outreach and small group meetings, actively connect with women, youth, farmers and first-time voters , clearly communicate the benefits and vision outlined by the BJP, ensure transparency, development and safety, use social media and digital tools effectively to amplify facts and counter misinformation.
He also stressed the importance of documenting and communicating local issues, ensuring that the voices of the people are consistently heard and represented.

The PM constantly reiterated that booth-level strength is the foundation of electoral success, stating that “Booth jeeta, toh chunav jeeta.” He expressed confidence that the growing trust of the people in BJP presents a significant opportunity to bring transformation in West Bengal.

Concluding the interaction, PM Modi said that the scale of victory in West Bengal will directly translate into relief and better governance for its people. He encouraged all karyakartas to work with renewed energy, expand outreach, and ensure that every household becomes a partner in this journey of development.
