On the afternoon of 24th April, NDA’s Prime Ministerial candidate Shri Narendra Modi filed his nomination papers from the Varanasi Lok Sabha Constituency in Uttar Pradesh.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Modi acknowledged and appreciated the support shown by the people of Varanasi. Expressing gratitude, Shri Modi conveyed reverence for Mother Ganges and the holy city of Varanasi, and said, “I am grateful to the people of Kashi for the affection. I bow to this land and the culture. I don't think anyone has sent me here nor have I come here. Like a child going to his Mother, I have come here to Ganga.”
Recalling his early days, Shri Modi spoke of how he was born in Vadnagar, served in the city of Vadodara as an organisation worker, and had now come to Varanasi to serve the spiritual land. “I want to serve this land. I want to serve the weavers here. May Kashi emerge as the spiritual capital,” said Shri Modi, even as he shared his vision to empower the Bunkar community in the region by introducing technology upgradations and branding.
Before filing his nomination papers, Shri Modi paid tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya, by garlanding their statues at different places. Shri Modi also held a roadshow, which witnessed the presence of a massive crowd of BJP supporters and karyakartas.
Senior BJP leaders were present during the occasion.
