On the evening of Tuesday 16th September 2014 Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a large gathering of BJP workers at Tri Mandir near Gandhinagar. Gujarat CM Smt. Anandiben Patel, BJP National President Shri Amit Shah, Ministers of the Gujarat Government and several Gujarat BJP leaders were present on the occasion. In his speech the Prime Minister reaffirmed the commitment of the Central Government towards the principle of ‘Sarvajan Hitai, Sarvajan Sukhai’ and talked about the efforts of the Central government towards India’s development including the path breaking Jan Dhan Yojana.

The Prime Minister remarked that the focus of the Government is to make Team India stronger and spoke on the importance of the federal structure of India.

He affirmed, “People keep asking what is your vision, big vision and grand vision but all I have to say is that I am a very small person and I live for the small people.”

 Talking about the BJP, the Prime Minister pointed, “Our (BJP’s) strength is our Organisation and the hardwork of our Karyakartas.” He recalled the time when the BJP was reduced to two seats and asked whether anyone thought that time that the BJP would come to power securing a majority on its own.

 During his speech the Prime Minister thanked the people of Gujarat for the warm welcome and shared that whatever happens, the people of Gujarat will always remain in his heart. Referring to the wonderful work in Gujarat under the leadership of Smt. Anandiben Patel the PM said, “I had said that my success does not lie in Gujarat’s development when I am there but in Gujarat’s development when I am not there. Coming back to Gujarat after four months I can see the development going on at a quick pace.”

 Gujarat Chief Minister Smt. Anandiben Patel described it as a matter of immense joy that the Prime Minister is visiting Gujarat for the first time after taking oath as PM. She recalled his wonderful work as the Chief Minister of Gujarat. BJP President Shri Amit Shah talked about the PM, saying that he has worked with Shri Modi both in the Organisation and in the Government.

Prime Minister condemns insult to President and disrespect towards Santal culture in West Bengal

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, has strongly condemned the incident involving disrespect towards Rashtrapati Ji and the casual treatment of Santal culture by the Government of West Bengal.

The Prime Minister said that the development was shameful and unprecedented and that everyone who believes in democracy and the empowerment of tribal communities is deeply disheartened by the incident.

The Prime Minister said that the pain and anguish expressed by Rashtrapati Ji, who herself hails from a tribal community, has caused immense sadness in the minds of the people of India.

Shri Modi stated that the TMC Government of West Bengal has crossed all limits and that their administration is responsible for this insult to the President.

The Prime Minister further said that it is equally unfortunate that a subject as important as Santal culture is being treated so casually by the West Bengal Government.

Emphasising that the office of the President is above politics, the Prime Minister said that the sanctity of this office should always be respected. He expressed hope that better sense will prevail among the West Bengal Government and the TMC.

The Prime Minister wrote on X;
