• Space diplomacy has touched new heights with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s unique gift in the sky to South Asian neighbours.

• The gift of a communications satellite for use by neighbours at no cost has perhaps no precedent worldwide.

• The satellite, which weighs over 2 tonnes, has been fabricated in three years at a cost of over Rs. 230 crore.

• Its footprint that extends all over South Asia.

• The South Asia Satellite has 12 Ku band transponders which India’s neighbours can utilise to increase communications.

• Each country will get access to at least one transponder through which they could beam their own programming.
The satellite will facilitate DTH television, VSAT links, tele-education, telemedicine and disaster management support. It will provide critical communication links in times of disasters such as earthquakes, cyclones, floods, and tsunamis.

• Heads of Government from all the seven South Asian nations who are benefiting from the satellite, connected via video conference, in a unique celebration of the successful launch.

Prime Minister greets everyone on Republic Day

Greeting everyone on the occasion of Republic Day, the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi remarked that today we celebrate 75 glorious years of being a Republic.

In separate posts on X, the Prime Minister said:

“Happy Republic Day.

Today, we celebrate 75 glorious years of being a Republic. We bow to all the great women and men who made our Constitution and ensured that our journey is rooted in democracy, dignity and unity. May this occasion strengthen our efforts towards preserving the ideals of our Constitution and working towards a stronger and prosperous India.”

“गणतंत्र दिवस की ढेरों शुभकामनाएं!

आज हम अपने गौरवशाली गणतंत्र की 75वीं वर्षगांठ मना रहे हैं। इस अवसर पर हम उन सभी महान विभूतियों को नमन करते हैं, जिन्होंने हमारा संविधान बनाकर यह सुनिश्चित किया कि हमारी विकास यात्रा लोकतंत्र, गरिमा और एकता पर आधारित हो। यह राष्ट्रीय उत्सव हमारे संविधान के मूल्यों को संरक्षित करने के साथ ही एक सशक्त और समृद्ध भारत बनाने की दिशा में हमारे प्रयासों को और मजबूत करे, यही कामना है।”
