Governor unfurls Trio in Surendranagar, Chief Minister joins Governor

Governor Dr.Smt.Kamlajee unfurled Trio on the morning of Republic Day at Police parade ground Surendranagar amid National Anthem by police band and dropping of flower petals from the Helicopter. Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi also joined Governor to review the parade and watched the impressive march past conducted by police force.

It may be recalled that the State level celebration of 61st Republic Day was held in Surendranagar district to enable people of the district to participate in the State level event. A series of cultural programmes including folk dance and traditional Indian dance were presented by students from various schools to mark the occasion. Attractive tableaux were presented by various Government departments depicting the theme of development schemes, and exquisite art and craft skills, also highlighting the development journey of six-decades.

An impressive march past ceremony was conducted on the tune of police band, in which 11th Battalion of B.S.F, Gandhidham, Chetak Commando Unit, S.R.P. Unit No-7 from Nadiad, Gondal, Vadodara, Rajkot, Ahmedabad (Women), Surendranagar District Police, Jamnagar District Police, Ahmedabad District Police, Ahmedabad City Traffic Police, women police, N.C.C cadets, Home Guards (Armed and Un Armed Units), Rajkot GRD cadets Surendranagar, Sagar Rakshak Dal Jamnagar, Dog-Squads and Horse-Units participated. Governor and CM warmly greeted the people of the district.

Around 28 Tableaux were presented by State Government Board-Corporations and agencies, highlighting the achievements and development of Gujarat. They were based on Swarnim Gujarat, awareness on Climate Change, Agriculture, Cooperative Model, Panchayat, Gram Gruh Nirman, Education, Energy and Petro Chemicals, Women and Child Development, Water Resources and Water Distribution, Health and Family Welfare, Industries and Mines, Labour and Employment Department, Food and Civil Supply, Science and Technology, Ports, Transports, Forest and Environment, youth and cultural affairs had grabbed the themes, also highlighting the welfare schemes.

Prizes and Trophies to the winners of the best tableaux were given away by Governor and C.M. The Buddhist Tourism in Gujarat tableaux of Industries Mines and Tourism department won the first prize, Forest Department’s-Social and Cultural forestry and its conservation won second prize and Tribal department’s- Vanbandhu Development Package won third prize for the attractive tableaux. Tourism Secretary Shri Vipul Mitra, Youth and Cultural Affair’s Secretary Shri Bhagyesh Jha and Information Commissioner Shri. V.Thirupugazh had remained on the panel of Judges for selection of the best Tableaux.

For the impressive and remarkable performance in the parade, the first prize was shared among B.S.F and Chetak Commandos Unit-1, the second prize went to Ashwadal Platoon, and the 3rd prize was won by NCC Senior Division (Boys), they had received the Trophies.

Presentation of Russian P.T. by Police-Jawans had mesmerized the audience. Horse show including tent pegging and jumping were the star attraction for the people.

Chief Secretary Shri A.K.Joti, D.G.P .Shri Khandavala, MLAs Smt Varshaben Doshi and Shri Shanbhuprasad Tundiya, Principal Secretary Home Shri Balvantsinh, Principal Secretary to C.M Shri K.Kailashnathan, Road and Building Secretary Shri S.S.Rathor, Senior Secretaries, District Collector Shri Anupam, D.S.P. Ashokkumar Yadav, D.D.O.Shri K.K.Nirala, eminent leaders attended the celebrations.

PM to inaugurate 28th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth on 15th January

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 28th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth (CSPOC) on 15th January 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan, Parliament House Complex, New Delhi. Prime Minister will also address the gathering on the occasion.

The Conference will be chaired by the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Shri Om Birla and will be attended by 61 Speakers and Presiding Officers of 42 Commonwealth countries and 4 semi-autonomous parliaments from different parts of the world.

The Conference will deliberate on a wide range of contemporary parliamentary issues, including the role of Speakers and Presiding Officers in maintaining strong democratic institutions, the use of artificial intelligence in parliamentary functioning, the impact of social media on Members of Parliament, innovative strategies to enhance public understanding of Parliament and citizen participation beyond voting, among others.
