On 23rd February, 2014, Shri Narendra Modi will flag off the Surat Night Marathon at DRB plot in Surat at 6 pm. 

The categories for the Marathon include (a) Full Marathon (42 kms), (b) Half marathon (21 kms) and (c) 10 kms marathon, and the proceeds from this will be used towards the upgradation of the city’s CCTV project, the Surat traffic brigade, and the treatment of cancer patients.

Dignitaries to grace the occasion will include Shri Nanubhai Vanani, Shri Niranjan Jhanjhmera, Shri C R Patil and Shrimati Darshna Jardosh.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today condoled the loss of lives in a bus accident in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh. Shri Modi also announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF for the next of kin of each deceased and Rs. 50,000 to the injured.

In a post on X, he wrote:

"Saddened by the loss of lives in the bus accident in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh. Condolences to those who lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon. The local administration is assisting those affected.

An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000: PM
