Addressing a massive Vijay Shankhnad rally in Bahraich, the BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Shri Narendra Modi slammed the politics of the Congress and took on the SP and BSP saying that the two parties are competing not to provide development to the people of Uttar Pradesh but are competing on which party will have more criminals and will be more corrupt.
Sharpening his attack further Shri Modi said, “SP and BSP are supporting the Centre. They know without them the Centre cannot survive. If they want they can make the Centre bend. If they ask for railways or airport the Centre will have to give but they are not asking only…they are only worried about their families and they want to save their seats.” Shri Modi affirmed that their names can be Congress, SP and BSP but their Gotra, DNA and character are one. “Never think they are separate,” the BJP’s PM candidate avowed referring to the Congress, SP and BSP. Contrasting the conduct of the SP and BSP with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Shri Modi stated, “Mamata Didi fights with Delhi for West Bengal but SP and BSP leaders protect Delhi and save them. They ask Delhi for help in CBI cases.”
Shri Modi pointed that the Congress and its allies are worried about the BJP’s rising popularity and that is why they are turning to votebank and anti-democratic politics. Directly questioning the SP government for the treatment of BJP MLAs Shri Modi declared, “I want to ask the rulers of UP, what was the reason you sent our MLAs to prison and defamed our party? When the law said they are not guilty you put another law. Due to votebank politics you cannot punish the guilty so you will punish the innocent?”
He added that because the same forces who could not defeat the BJP in Gujarat through democratic means of as many as three occasions are now trying different things like the support of the CBI and the Indian Mujahedeen. In a clear message to anti-national elements seeking to destroy the peace and harmony of the nation Shri Modi affirmed, “Let me tell those who are doing politics with gun and bombs that we are built differently. We have never bowed nor will be bow to terrorists. If you have the courage to defeat us, do so democratically. Go among the people. Why are you doing all this?” Shri Modi expressed confidence that the people of India will not bow to such ploys and that the country will scale new heights of development despite the guns of the terrorists.
Shri Modi said that so rattled are the Congress, SP and BSP that they will not contest the elections but will leave it to the CBI and the Indian Mujahedeen to save the day. He categorically stated that in a democracy there can be no place for guns and bombs. He asked what was the crime of those who lost their lives in the blasts in Patna, was it that they said ‘Bharat Ma ki Jai?’
During his speech Shri Modi criticized the advisory of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry that asked media to devote space to the Prime Minister’s address, referring to his speech on 15th August. Shri Modi shared that this directive did not come out because the UPA respected the PM or his office but it came out because they feared that the media would not cover the Congress Vice President’s speech, which was to take place during the same time as the Hunkaar Rally in Patna. He pointed that the BJP and its leaders may or may not be on television but they will surely be in the hearts of the people.
Shri Modi questioned what the people got during the 60 yearlong rule of the Congress and its allies. He stated that instead of answering the people the Congress and its allies are making allegations of others. Commenting on the lack of development in Uttar Pradesh, Shri Modi affirmed that so many high profile people from powerful families are elected from UP but questioned what did they do for the development of UP. He added that had they done something for the development of Uttar Pradesh even then India would have developed. “They have to go now. The nation is not willing to accept them in the 21st century,” he said referring to the Congress, SP and BSP.
Shri Modi talked about the development in Gujarat and the turnaround of the state’s power sector and questioned why there was no electricity in Uttar Pradesh but the areas of the Chief Minister and powerful ministers got uninterrupted power supply. He lauded the performance of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan and said that if he could turnaround a backward state in all spheres, why cannot Uttar Pradesh develop?
Making a strong pitch for electing the BJP with a resounding margin, Shri Modi spoke about the importance of political stability and told the people of Uttar Pradesh that they have the strength to provide political stability for the nation. Striking a personal note, Shri Modi recalled that it was in Bahraich that he attended his last meeting as General Secretary Organisation and after that he was called to New Delhi and asked to become the CM of Gujarat. “In a way, my last programme as General Secretary happened here in this Tapo Bhumi of Lord Brahma and so this place will always be special,” said Shri Modi.
BJP National President Shri Rajnath Singh made a very strong speech where he highlighted the problems being faced by the common man due to rising prices under the UPA government. He attacked the UPA for its failure to control rising prices and he also attacked the flawed economic policies of the UPA government. Shri Rajnath Singh affirmed that the history of India cannot be the history of one family but it is the history of all those who sacrificed their lives for the nation. He dared the SP and BSP to withdraw support from the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre now that their CBI cases have ended.
BJP Lok Sabha MP Yogi Adityanath said in this speech that the 2014 elections would be a fight between Vikas and Vinash and fight between nationalism and terrorism. He urged people to elect the BJP and make Shri Modi the PM of India.
Lok Sabha MP and former UP Chief Minister Shri Kalyan Singh affirmed that there is a wave in favour of Shri Modi all over the nation. He stated that there is no leader like Shri Modi and that the nation would shine under his leadership. He also took on the politics of Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Speeches were made by UP BJP President Shri Laxmikant Bajpai, Rajya Sabha MP Shri Vinay Katiyar, Senior BJP leaders Shri Kalraj Mishra and Shri Ramapati Ram Tripathi.
