The Tourism Department of the state of Gujarat is the Best upcoming Tourism Department. The SAFARI INDIA, a prestigious regional tourism magazine covering India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan and South East Asia has recognized Gujarat Government's Tourism Department for its outstanding and professional efforts initiated under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi in promoting and executing Tourism industry innovatively in the state.

The award will be given at 'Tourism Leaders' Conclave and Commonwealth Games' on 18th August 2010 at Gurgaon organized by Pacific Area Travel Writers Association - PATWA. State Tourism Secretary Shri Vipul Mittra has been invited to accept this award.

In his letter to Mr. Mittra, Shri SAGAR AHLUWALIA, the Editorial Advisor of SAFARI, has said that this award recognizes the leadership quality in the field of hotel, tourism, destinations, airlines, travel agent and individuals. It recognizes the professional work done by the state government. The Editorial Board of Safari India has selected Gujarat Tourism department as the upcoming department for developing and executing tourism activities in the state of Gujarat.

Tourism Minister Shri Jay Narayn Vyas has congratulated Tourism Department and TCGL officials and Secretary Shri Mitra for bringing this honor to Gujarat and the achievement in other words. He hoped the Tourism industry in Gujarat will go on a long way to cater the hospitality and best services to the tourists in the state.

While reacting to this unique recognition of Best Upcoming Tourism Department received, Secretary Shri Vipul Mittra has expressed full satisfaction and said that such recognitions help us strengthening our efforts in developing tourism and providing best services to the tourists coming to Gujarat. He has also congratulated and thanked all state tourism officials for their support on this occasion.

This award will be given at 'Tourism Leaders' Conclave and Commonwealth Games' followed by Safari India National Tourism Awards on 18th August 2010 at The Leela Kempinski Hotels & Residences, Gurgaon. This will be organized by Pacific Area Travel Writers Association (PATWA). The theme of the conclave is 'Will Commonwealth Games bring Common Wealth?' The partners of Safari India National Tourism Awards ceremony will be Egypt and Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir and Sikkim.

PATWA is the leading travel writers' organization representing members from all over the world. The aim of PATWA is to promote professional development of Travel Writing and Travel Communication, which will make invaluable contribution in the promotion of tourism. PATWA will support the fundamental objectives and efforts for tourism and at the same time it will maintain adherence to the fundamental principles of the UNESCO, United Nation and of the World Tourism Organization.

It is to be noted that Safari India National Tourism Awards is given annually to recognize the leadership quality in the field of hotel, tourism, destinations, airlines, travel agent and individuals. It also recognizes the professional work done by the state governments. These recommendations are given by the travel industry and approved by editorial board of Safari India. The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the demise of Former Union Minister, Shri Chaman Lal Gupta Ji.

In a tweet, the Prime Minister said, "Shri Chaman Lal Gupta Ji will be remembered for numerous community service efforts. He was a dedicated legislator and strengthened the BJP across Jammu and Kashmir. Pained by his demise. My thoughts are with his family and supporters in this hour of grief. Om Shanti."
