On the morning of 28th August 2013, Shri Narendra Modi visited the auspicious 500 year old Banyan Tree, Mahakali Vad at Kantharpura in Dehgam Taluka, Gandhinagar district. The grand tree covers an area of almost half an acre.

He guided various government officials on the development of the Vad as a spiritual and holy place. Earlier, he visited the holy tree during Shala Praveshotsav in June 2013. Here are a few assorted pictures of his today's visit to the Vad:

He stated that this is in line with the ongoing efforts towards providing quality health treatment to the people, noting that the hospital features modern facilities and will go a long way in addressing the healthcare needs of the Union Territory and surrounding areas.
