Shri Modi meets Barry O Farrel, the Premier of Australia's New South Wales

Gandhinagar, Wednesday: A ten-member delegation from New South Wales (NSW) of Australia led by its Premier Mr. Barry O’Farrell during their meeting with Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Narendra Modi here today evinced keen interest to further mutual co-operation between the two regions.

Mr. O’Farrell, for whom it was his third visit to Gujarat, explored areas of strengthening relations in infrastructure development, technology transfer and university education. This include application of clean technology in 10 cities in Gujarat, water management infrastructure at SIR, dual diploma course in skill development with TAFE, tie-up with Yoga University and Sports University, developing renewable energy sector like rooftop solar technology and dairy technology.

There being a noteworthy rise in Gujarati students pursuing higher education in Australian universities, the Premier discussed starting university students exchange programme.

NSW Premier was accompanied by Australian Consul General Mr. Marc Pears during the meeting; Senior Secretaries representing Gujarat Government included Mr. Maheshwar Sahu, Mr. H.K. Dash, Mr. Jagdish Pandian, Mr. Rajiv Gupta, Mr. N. Tiwari and Chief Minister’s Additional Principal Secretary Mr. A.K. Sharma.
