Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Commander-in-Chief of Myanmar Defence Services, called on Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today.

The Senior General congratulated the Prime Minister on the success in the recent parliamentary elections. He noted the rapid development of India in the past few years and also the all-round deepening of the unique relations between the two neighbours,including in the area ofdefenceand security cooperation.

The Prime Minister recalled the warmth and hospitality extended to him during his visits to Myanmar.He noted the excellent state of bilateral cooperation in the areas of counter-insurgency, capacity building, military-to-military-ties and maritime cooperation, as well as in economic sphere and development cooperation.

The Prime Minister reiterated India’s strongcommitmentto work for further deepening the unique bilateral partnership with the Union of Myanmar.

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, has expressed deep grief over the tragic boat accident involving Indian nationals near Phu Quoc, Vietnam.

The Prime Minister conveyed his sincere condolences to the families who lost their loved ones and prayed for the early recovery of the injured survivors.

Shri Modi said that the Embassy and Consulate are providing all possible assistance. He also noted that Indian officials are in close contact with the Vietnamese authorities.

In a post on X, Shri Modi said;

“Extremely saddened to learn about the tragic news of a boat accident involving Indian nationals near Phu Quoc, Vietnam.

My sincere condolences to the families who lost their loved ones. My prayers for the early recovery of the injured survivors.

Our Embassy and Consulate are providing all possible assistance. Our officials are also in close contact with the Vietnamese authorities.”
