Piprahwa Relics Exposition is in line with our commitment to further popularising the noble thoughts of Bhagwan Buddha: PM

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Grand International Exposition of Sacred Piprahwa Relics titled “The Light & the Lotus: Relics of the Awakened One” at the Rai Pithora Cultural Complex, New Delhi, on 3rd January 2026 at 11 AM.

The Prime Minister today called upon all those passionate about culture and Buddhism to visit the Exposition and experience the sacred heritage of Piprahwa.

PM remarked that the Exposition brings together the Piprahwa relics repatriated after more than a century. It also brings the Authentic relics and archaeological materials from Piprahwa preserved in the collections of the National Museum, New Delhi and the Indian Museum, Kolkata.

In separate posts on X, Shri Modi stated:

“Tomorrow, 3rd January, is a very special day for those passionate about history, culture and the ideals of Bhagwan Buddha.

At 11 AM, the Grand International Exposition of Sacred Piprahwa Relics related to Bhagwan Buddha, ‘The Light & the Lotus: Relics of the Awakened One’, will be inaugurated at Rai Pithora Cultural Complex in Delhi.

This Exposition brings together:

The Piprahwa relics repatriated after more than a century.

Authentic relics and archaeological materials from Piprahwa that are preserved in the collections of the National Museum, New Delhi and the Indian Museum, Kolkata.”

“This Exposition is in line with our commitment to further popularising the noble thoughts of Bhagwan Buddha. It is also an effort to further deepen the bond between our youth and our rich culture. I would also like to appreciate everyone who worked towards the repatriation of these relics.”

Prime Minister condoles the demise of former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Major General Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri (Retd.)

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today expressed deep grief over the passing of the former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Major General Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri (Retd.).

The Prime Minister noted that Major General Khanduri made invaluable contributions spanning from the armed forces to the political sphere, for which he will always be remembered. Shri Modi highlighted his unwavering dedication to the development of Uttarakhand during his tenure as Chief Minister, and described his stint as a Union Minister as truly inspiring. He further lauded his tireless efforts toward significantly improving connectivity across the nation.

The Prime Minister extended his heartfelt condolences to the family and supporters of the departed leader in this hour of grief.

"उत्तराखंड के पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री मेजर जनरल भुवन चंद्र खण्डूडी (सेवानिवृत्त) जी के निधन से अत्यंत दुख हुआ है। सशस्त्र बलों से लेकर राजनीतिक जगत में उन्होंने बहुमूल्य योगदान दिया, जिसके लिए उन्हें सदैव याद किया जाएगा। उत्तराखंड के विकास के लिए वे हमेशा समर्पित रहे, जो मुख्यमंत्री के रूप में उनके कार्यकाल में भी साफ तौर पर दिखा। केंद्रीय मंत्री के रूप में भी उनका कार्यकाल हर किसी को प्रेरित करने वाला है। देशभर में कनेक्टिविटी की बेहतरी के लिए उन्होंने निरंतर अथक प्रयास किए। शोक की इस घड़ी में मेरी संवेदनाएं उनके परिजनों और समर्थकों के साथ हैं। ओम शांति!"
