Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed rallies in Assam’s Tinsukia, Majauli, Bihpuria and Bokakhat districts. The Prime Minister said that his fight was not against the state’s Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi but poverty and corruption.

Shri Narendra Modi stated that Assam was earlier known for its prosperity but now the state was facing problems due to unemployment and lack of electricity. He questioned the 60 years rule of the Congress party. Shri Modi added that Assam could be transformed and be made a model state for progress.

The PM noted that there were several villages that did not even have any electric poles. PM Modi highlighted Government’s fast-track measures on rural electrification. He also took note of troubles that people in Assam have to face due to acute water crisis. The PM also elaborated on several aspects of the newly launched Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana for the farmers.

Shri Modi noted how funds allocated to the state for construction of houses for the poor were lying idle in the banks. Prime Minister Modi said that Assam needed all round development and it was only the BJP that could fulfill aspirations of the people in the state.

At Bihpuria, Shri Modi expressed concern over the maternal mortality rate in the state. The PM noted how the current Congress government in Assam did not accept Centre’s vaccination initiative whereas other states did. Shri Modi said that Assam needed a Government that cared for the wellbeing of the people in the state.

Shri Narendra Modi alleged that the current Congress government in Assam had no answer on CAG reports on the state. He urged the people to question the government where their money had gone. The PM highlighted Centre’s efforts towards development of Assam in road and rail sectors.

The Prime Minister said that he had only three agendas for Assam–development, fast-paced development and all-round development.

PM Modi also talked about the hardworking tea plantation workers of Assam who have energized the entire world and made India proud. The Prime Minister urged people of the state to turn out in large numbers and vote for a BJP Government that would dedicatedly work for taking the state to newer heights of progress.
