On the morning of Monday, 14th April 2014, Shri Narendra Modi paid tributes to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. Speaking on the occasion he said, "Today is a special occasion. It is like a Diwali for the Dalits and marginalized sections of society. Today Dr. Ambedkar was born, who undertook efforts to give justice to the marginalized. He played a major role in giving us our Constitution that has given us several rights including rights for the poor."

Commenting on the Congress Party's repeated insults to Babasaheb Ambedkar Shri Modi said, "Sadly, Congress is insulting Dr. Ambedkar. Why does Shahzada keep saying we gave ABC law or XYZ law? All the laws and rights we got are due to Babasaheb Ambedkar. All those who make claims we gave you this law or that law are insulting Dr. Ambedkar. Nation knows that it is the Congress that has insulted Dr. Ambedkar."
