Prime Minister's meeting with the Prime Minister of Australia on the sidelines of G-20 Summit in Bali

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi met Prime Minister of Australia H.E. Mr. Anthony Albanese on the sidelines of the G-20 Summit in Bali today.

Both Leaders expressed satisfaction at the excellent state of relations between the two countries under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the high-level interactions taking place on a regular basis between India and Australia. They reviewed the progress made in deepening cooperation across a diverse range of sectors, including defence, trade, education, clean energy and people-to-people ties. Institutional partnership in the field of education, especially in higher education, vocational education, training and capacity building was discussed in detail.

The Leaders exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest, which included their shared vision for a stable and peaceful Indo-Pacific Region, climate related matters and India’s G20 Presidency.

Prime Minister looks forward to welcoming Prime Minister Albanese in India at an early opportunity.

Prime Minister Condoles the Demise of Shri Shivraj Patil

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today condoled the passing of Shri Shivraj Patil, describing him as an experienced leader who devoted his life to public service.

In his message, the Prime Minister said he was saddened by the demise of Shri Patil, who served the nation in various capacities—including as MLA, MP, Union Minister, Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, and Speaker of the Lok Sabha—during his long and distinguished public life. Shri Patil was known for his commitment to societal welfare and his steadfast dedication to democratic values.

The Prime Minister recalled his many interactions with Shri Patil over the years, noting that their most recent meeting took place a few months ago when Shri Patil visited his residence.

In separate posts on X, Shri Modi wrote:

“Saddened by the passing of Shri Shivraj Patil Ji. He was an experienced leader, having served as MLA, MP, Union Minister, Speaker of the Maharashtra Assembly as well as the Lok Sabha during his long years in public life. He was passionate about contributing to the welfare of society. I have had many interactions with him over the years, the most recent one being when he came to my residence a few months ago. My thoughts are with his family in this sad hour. Om Shanti.”

“श्री शिवराज पाटील जी यांच्या निधनाने दुःख झाले आहे. ते एक अनुभवी नेते होते. सार्वजनिक जीवनातील आपल्या प्रदीर्घ कारकिर्दीत त्यांनी आमदार, खासदार, केंद्रीय मंत्री, महाराष्ट्र विधानसभेचे तसेच लोकसभेचे अध्यक्ष म्हणून काम केले. समाजाच्या कल्याणासाठी योगदान देण्याच्या ध्येयाने ते झपाटले होते. ​गेल्या काही वर्षांत त्यांच्यासोबत माझे अनेक वेळा संवाद झाले, त्यापैकी सर्वात अलीकडील भेट काही महिन्यांपूर्वीच जेव्हा ते माझ्या निवासस्थानी आले होते तेव्हा झाली होती. या दुःखद प्रसंगी माझ्या संवेदना त्यांच्या कुटुंबीयांसोबत आहेत. ओम शांती.”
