Gandhinagar, Thursday: Impressed by Gujarat’s ‘development model’, Kolkata-based Ladies Study Group on a four-day visit to the State today extended invite to Chief Minister Narendra Modi to visit their city and make detailed presentation on Gujarat Government’s proactive policies, experience in various fields and unique success stories.

A 15-member delegation of the Group, led by Ms. Shubha Kanoria, which paid a courtesy call on Mr. Modi here, requested him to give some glimpses of his working style, some instances of ‘political will’ to the common man outside Gujarat, too. During their interactive session, she said, the nation is waiting for the type leadership qualities that are exuded by Mr. Modi.

The group was particularly impressed by an atmosphere of visible peace and prosperity, women’s empowerment, electoral reforms rising above vote bank politics, skill development of youth, water conservation, tourism development, good governance, people’s participation, patriotism, woman and child welfare, pride and esteem in the state.

Chief Minister’s Additional Chief Secretary K. Kailashnathan and Secretary Arvind Sharma were present during the meeting.

PM to inaugurate 28th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth on 15th January

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 28th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth (CSPOC) on 15th January 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan, Parliament House Complex, New Delhi. Prime Minister will also address the gathering on the occasion.

The Conference will be chaired by the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Shri Om Birla and will be attended by 61 Speakers and Presiding Officers of 42 Commonwealth countries and 4 semi-autonomous parliaments from different parts of the world.

The Conference will deliberate on a wide range of contemporary parliamentary issues, including the role of Speakers and Presiding Officers in maintaining strong democratic institutions, the use of artificial intelligence in parliamentary functioning, the impact of social media on Members of Parliament, innovative strategies to enhance public understanding of Parliament and citizen participation beyond voting, among others.
