India has initiated major steps in defence sector to become self-reliant: PM Modi

In his Independence Day address to the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid out India’s vision to become self-reliant in the defence sector and shed light on the various reform measures being undertaken by the Central Government.

PM Modi said, “In order for India to become Aatmanirbhar, the country has initiated major reforms in the defence sector. Now, from pistols and guns to tanks and fighter jets, from artillery guns to missiles, everything will be made in India.” The Tejas aircraft is also being upgraded, added PM Modi.

The Prime Minister announced the expansion of NCC in 173 borders and coastal districts of India and added that government will induct one lakh new NCC cadets from border districts. In this, PM Modi said, about one-third of the daughters will be given this special training.

Prime Minister welcomes passage of SHANTI Bill by Parliament

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has welcomed the passage of the SHANTI Bill by both Houses of Parliament, describing it as a transformational moment for India’s technology landscape.

Expressing gratitude to Members of Parliament for supporting the Bill, the Prime Minister said that it will safely power Artificial Intelligence, enable green manufacturing and deliver a decisive boost to a clean-energy future for the country and the world.

Shri Modi noted that the SHANTI Bill will also open numerous opportunities for the private sector and the youth, adding that this is the ideal time to invest, innovate and build in India.

The Prime Minister wrote on X;
