Friends,
Japan is devastated by severe earthquake and tsunami, and the wave of shock as well as compassion has spread all over the world.
I personally feel too much of pain and misery for this. On behalf of my government and the people of Gujarat, I state that we extend our whole hearted condolences to the people of Japan in this painful situation.
We have experienced that the power of Nature is boundless and its strength is beyond our imagination, while the human is mean and insignificant before it. But in this frightful situation, the best way to overcome is with cooperation and by helping each other.
Today, I had a direct telephonic conversation with the Delhi based Ambassador of Japan, Mr. Akitaki Saiki. I expressed my grief on behalf of my Government & Gujarat for the earthquake victimized people and for the great loss they have suffered. I also wrote a letter to the Prime Minister of Japan, Mr. NAOTO KAN on behalf of Gujarat that we are ready to provide every possible help to the people of Japan in this unprecedented natural disaster. I expressed my feeling that the strength of society will be helpful in this humanitarian duty.
In the past few years, Japan and Gujarat have developed strong economical and cultural relations and the bond is multiplying with each passing day. Japan has become a partner country twice in Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit.
Ten years back, on 26th January 2001, Gujarat also suffered a severe blow of earthquake and today Gujarat can feel the pain of Japan with immense sympathy.
Let us stand with grieved people of Japan with whole hearted sympathy. May God give strength and courage to the people of Japan to overcome this calamity and misfortune.
