An especially designed box containing a beautiful painting of Buddha and his disciples on a long scroll was also presented to PM Modi by Professor Yue Yu. Professor Yue Yu is the Director of Religious Art Institute of North West University in Xi’an and a renowned Buddhist artist, scholar. The box also contains a book “True and Free: Portraits of the Eighteen Arhats in Buddhism”, with paintings by Professor Yue Yu. Professor Yue Yu has studied temples in Xi’an to have a better understanding of Buddhist scriptures. He has travelled to many countries in the world including India to study the ancient Buddhist artworks. He has visited famous temples to understand the various aspects of Buddhism.
