Taking his interaction with well wishers on social media to the next level, Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi joined Instagram on 12th  November 2014. He shared his first photo from the 25th ASEAN Summit from Nay Pyi Taw in Myanmar.

Prior to Instagram, Prime Minister had already been reaching out to the masses through some of the most popular social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and many more. With frequent tweets, posts on Facebook and other sites of various events and visits, social media platforms have clearly proved to be useful to connect with millions of his followers and supporters globally. Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has been very much active on other social sites like Stumbleupon, Pinterest, Tumblr and LinkedIn. He has been sharing photos on Flickr as well.

Shri Narendra Modi has continuously been encouraging the use of this digital platform. The Prime Minster has been making use of social media to showcase the work done by the government as well as inspire people to serve the nation through campaigns like the Swachch Bharat Mission. Social media has been helpful for spreading out messages directly from the PM and build a strong leadership. It has been successful in opening up a direct channel of communication between people and the PM.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a telephone conversation today with His Excellency Mr. Matemela Cyril Ramaphosa, President of the Republic of South Africa.

The two leaders reviewed progress in bilateral cooperation, which is anchored in historic and strong people-to-people ties. Prime Minister thanked the South African President for the relocation of 12 Cheetahs to India earlier this year.

They also exchanged views on a number of regional and global issues of mutual interest, including cooperation in BRICS in the context of South Africa’s chairmanship this year.

President Ramaphosa briefed PM on the African Leaders’ Peace Initiative. Noting that India was supportive of all initiatives aimed at ensuring durable peace and stability in Ukraine, PM reiterated India’s consistent call for dialogue and diplomacy as the way forward.

President Ramaphosa conveyed his full support to India’s initiatives as part of its ongoing G20 Presidency and that he looked forward to his visit to India.

The two leaders agreed to remain in touch.
