Shri Modi addresses public meetings in Tharad and Dhanera

English speaking political pundits who do not believe in politics of development will be proven wrong yet again in Gujarat elections

It has become a fashion to defame Gujarat: Shri Modi

Mrs. Sonia Gandhi came here with lot of advice. Would she do the same with regard to Haryana where instances of rapes are happening everyday? Asks Shri Modi

Vivekananda Yuva Vikas Yatra under the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi covered parts of Banaskantha District on Tuesday 9th October 2012. Shri Modi addressed meetings at Tharad and Dhanera. There were record number of people from different age groups and communities who gathered at various venues to support Shri Modi and the Yatra. Shri Modi stated that North Gujarat is his home and he has come among his own people to seek their blessings to take Gujarat to newer heights of development.

Shri Modi affirmed that there is a belief among English-speaking political pundits that development cannot win elections but in 2002 and 2007 the people of Gujarat demonstrated the opposite and in 2012 too development and progress are the issues. He stated that English speaking political pundits who do not believe in politics of development would be proven wrong yet again in the upcoming Gujarat elections. The Chief Minister said it has become a fashion to defame Gujarat and asked political pundits till when would they continue to defame Gujarat and negate the path of development. Shri Modi affirmed that it is this development that ensured that the waters of the Narmada and Mahi River reach North Gujarat. He spoke about the refusal of the Prime Minister to give permission to construct gates on the Narmada and said this is the Disha of the Congress- let Narmada waters go to the sea but it should not reach the people.

The Chief Minister said that Congress President Mrs. Sonia Gandhi visited Jind, Haryana, a state from where there is news of an instance of rape everyday. He shared that the latest case of rape involved a women from the Dalit community. He wondered if the same Mrs. Gandhi who came here with plenty of advice would do the same to her own party’s Government?

Speaking about the development in North Gujarat, Shri Modi declared that the land was known for frequent dust storms is has now been transformed and farmers from Banaskantha are cultivating tomatoes! This is the development that has taken place. He urged the people to wipe the Congress out of North Gujarat in the coming elections.

Vivekananda Yuva Vikas Yatra at Dhanera; unprecedented response to the Yatra and support to Shri Modi

In Dhanera, Banaskantha District, Shri Modi spoke about the development initiatives in the state in the last 11 years. He said that during the Congress rule in 1996-97 the overall Budget for irrigation was Rs. 600 crore, which is even less than the budget for dams for Narmada waters to reach Dhanera which stands at Rs. 750 crore!

He thanked the people for their good wishes and said that the reason why the people have given him the honour to serve them for 11 years is because he is contently toiling for the people of Gujarat and their well-being. Shri Modi spoke about the political stability in Gujarat and contrasted it with Maharashtra where Chief Ministers have changed frequently.

National BJP Vice President Shri Purushottam Rupala spoke on the occasions. Many other dignitaries were present.
